Spent a night in cordoba after taking an overnight bus. Nice city with a very young population. However there wasn´t a whole lot to do there without heading out to the countryside so we decided to head onto salta where we heard that there was lots of trekking and horseriding to do.
Salta is one of my favorite places I´ve visited so far. Went horseriding out at a estancia (ranch) out in the countryside with the gauchos. They really let you off on the horses here, compared to at home where they are terrified of you sueing them. The ranch itself was lovely too, it was run by an Argentinian called Enriqo. The highlight was crossing a river on horseback. Fergus wasn´t too impressed with his tiny horse though!
While at the ranch we met a Finnish girl, Maria who showed up around Salta. She brought us to a cool restaurant-bar in the suburbs where they have live music every night. Would never have found it ourselves. Really felt like one of the locals. There even was this English guy who had become a gaucho and really looked like on of the locals. Nightlife is very good in Salta as well as the countryside which is really amazing. They have really cheap and nice litre bottles of beer in Argentina, generally called after large towns such as Cordoba, Salta etc. After 3 night we decided we had to head onto Bolivia as we have to be in Cuzco, Peru for the Inca Trail on March 26th.
