Franz Josef
Entry 8 of 15 | show all | print this entry |
We stayed in a nice site in Franz Josef, which had a huge glacier, close to the village.
CHILDREN : We all went indoor ice climbing when we started it was -2c in the ice room, we were all given boots with spikes on them and axes. Alex and Gareth got bigger axes and Ben and Sam got smaller ones. The instructor we had was called Rob. later on we went to go on a glacier walk we had to have lots of warm clothes we were given boots for that. to get to the glacier we had to walk along a river bed and then at the end of the river bed we had to put our spikes on our boots to start climbing the glacier, it was really cold it looked like a 10 minute walk from the start, but that was only because it was so big, it took 4 hours to walk there and and back. when we got to the bus, we had to wait ages for the slow people.
Where I stayed:
Franz Josef Top 10 Holiday Park
