Having had enough of deserts, the following day we headed direct to Aqaba, instead of going via Wadi Rum, which is meant to be an awesome desert landscape, and is the number 2 tourist attraction in Jordan (after Petra of course). Aqaba, on the other hand, lies on the Red Sea and is a popular destination for snorkelling and diving. We left our hostel in Petra just after 6am and arrived in our hotel in Aqaba just in time to get the 9am shuttle to the South Coast. Delighted to be there, we hired snorkelling gear and went straight off the beach over coral. Anyone who has ever been snorkelling or diving among a coral reef knows how amazing this is. Those of you who haven't should get out there and do it!! It was a very peaceful way to spend the morning, and has hopefully recharged our batteries a bit. Next stop - Israel!
