Norway in a nutshell

If you have travelled to Norway, you have probably heard of "Norway in a nutshell", the trademark name given to a combination of train, bus and ferry travel across from the west to the east coast or vice-versa. This is a very popular, scenic way of traversing the country. There was some strange entertainment at a waterfall along the way - all of a sudden, some corny music started and a guy dressed up as a fairy started dancing around the surrounding cliff tops. It was quite comical!
Our trip concluded in Oslo, where we spent the following day visiting some of their fantastic museums - the Viking Ship museum, the Fram museum (I am so impressed that you can go on board the Fram), the Kontiki museum, and a brief visit to the National Gallery. For those of you who don't know, the Fram is the ship Amundsen took to Antarctica when he was the first to reach the South Pole, beating the ill-fated Scott party to it. We also had time in the evening to visit the large Sculpture park - well, the sun sets fairly late this far north.
The following morning, Ben and I went our separate ways - Ben on a whirlwind tour of more of Norway, Copenhagen, Vienna, Salzburg and Prague, while I headed to the Arctic to travel around the Svalbard archipelago on a 10 day voyage as ship's physician.
