Boy, have we covered some km already!!  We have been all over the place - by foot.

We wondered around the Marais one day - started with a citron presse at Place de la Bastille, then beautiful Place des Vogues (visited Victor Hugo's house while we were there), and Carnavalet museum (a free museum about the history of Paris, which has free wifi available in its courtyard).  Tired after that, so we'll need to head back another day to spend more time in the Jewish quarter.

Thursday we wondered over on the left bank during the morning, continued a search for elusive markets in the afternoon, and then went on a walk with a local - Nicolas, from Paris Greeters.  These guys from Paris Greeters are a group of volunteers who take small groups (up to 6) on free walks in areas that they love to share experiences with visitors to the city.  He pointed out the shop on Ile St Louis with "the best ice-cream in the world", showed us an area in St Germain with good restaurants.... oh, and these food tips were just the aside to an informed cultural tour that ended wondering through the grounds of the massive Louvre museum.

Today, having been joined by our friend Tera from San Francisco (a fellow visitor to Antarctica last year), we walked along the Promenade Plantee and then crazily continued on foot to the Pere Lachaise cemetery for some grave-spotting: Jim Morrison, Edith Piaf, Chopin and Proust among them.  Having enjoyed a crepe for dinner and some wonderful sorbet from "the best ice-cream shop, it is now time to settle back with a glass of French wine and learn more about Art before some museum tripping to come.

Au revoir.  A bientot!
