The Sounds of the Night!!
As I lay in my hammock, swaying gently from side to side, I listened to the cool night breeze and the sounds of the jungle.
Crickets chirped, piercing the air with their shrill cry. All around me the jungle was waking and souring into life.
Toads croaks reverberated throughout the still night and skinks rustled through the undergrowth, inviting other animals to join the party.
The rhythmic symphony played and the birds joined with wistful tunes! All was just beginning as the night sprung into action!!

A Skink
The lizard like skink darts in and out through the undergrowth, beady eyes staring, looking for its next meal ... centipedes, flys and midges all go down the skinks throat. Straight down into the gullet. It soon becomes a terror to insects. No force can withstand the mighty skink.
The skink looks again for its next meal; tongue flicking out, testing the air until a hawk singles him out as his next meal.
Suddenly it's time to use another of the skink's abilities. The ability to run away as fast as a bullet from a gun. But it's not enough! The hawk drops down on the skink, lifting it up by its tail. Ready to fly he soars up, the skink desperately trying to get the ground ... until ... as part of its amazing adaptation the body detaches from the tail. He free falls to the ground and darts into the undergrowth once more.
