Suddenly, Ms. Thompson spotted a small crab crawling along the sand. She quickly raised her arm and lowered her spear swiftly, trapping the crab against the sand, but not spearing it. Worried that pulling it out and trying it again would allow the crab to escape, she called Mrs. Swearingen over. Together, they worked at holding the crab and spearing it. The soft area of the crab was only about one inch across, so it was a pretty small target. Finally Ms. Thompson delivered the fatal blow, and triumphantly lifted her spear with the crab on the end. Success! Ms. Thompson had caught her very own crab using only a spear!
When we returned to our Linc's home, we ate lunch, eating the crab, mussels, snails, and periwinkles we had just caught. The crab was definitely the tastiest. Then Linc demonstrated playing the didgeridoo for us. Next it was our turn. Ms. Thompson tried first. Hers sounded pretty funny, not the nice sound Linc had made. But she was able to improve her tone a bit. Next Mrs. Swearingen tried. Hers sounded more like she cut the cheese than she was playing an instrument! We had a wonderful time, but we had to keep moving, on to the next adventure...
