So we left Matt at the Thai-Cambodia border and boarded our A/C minibus to bring us to Trat. We expected luxury and comfort. We got a nail-biting rollercoaster ride and a demonstration of possibly the worst driving of the trip. Alas we made it to the Trat ferry safely and due to the limited roads on Koh Chang the driver could not speed to much there.
We arrived in the dark in Lonely Beach (which had been recommended to us) as the right place to chill out) so we stayed in the first place we found. In the end we moved the next morning to a resort called Nature Beach and pretty much spent all our time there.
The old classic beach game of D.O.N.K.E.Y. was resurrected in the name of some male competition. Downey proved a shark at the two handed version but was worst at the one-bad-handed version. Paddy was the worst at catching the ball in any way but was best at spashing water in Downey's face
Our regular night haunts proved to be Mr Bean's, the Old Treehouse, Ting Tongs and Nature Beach itself and despite never having a mad one, there were many semi-mad ones which ended quite late. Obviously a bit more poi, some lady-boys, apple flavour shisha and some amazing sunsets added to the fun.
We even made it out of Lonely Beach on two days. On the first, the 4 of us rented some motorbikes and just like the Hell Angels we tore down the coast and back. Noel had a crash within 50m of the start ensuing a graze and a 10 euro damage fine (which he did his best to resist), we all got fined by the cops, we managed to find one of 3 waterfalls we were looking for and we got to the other side of the Island. Good craic was had and thankfully Noel has since been moved to ICU and his condition is now stable.
The second day we went on a boat trip to visit some islands. The sea was rough and the hangover didn't help. But we had some great snorkelling. I was left behind at one point by our boat and luckily the lads were able to warn the captain - but not until they had gone an extra 200m away which I then had to swim. Boy am I fit!
We made some good friends, got some beach action that we wanted, had some good nights and brought DONKEY to the masses. Overall Koh Chang was a major success.

Beautiful sunset welcomes us to Trat
. Noel played steadily throughout. But I don't want to make you to jealous so I won't document each game in detail...needless to say it was a real spectacle for our fellow beachgoers. Our regular night haunts proved to be Mr Bean's, the Old Treehouse, Ting Tongs and Nature Beach itself and despite never having a mad one, there were many semi-mad ones which ended quite late.
