Well it was back travelling by myself again...for 15 minutes. Once I jumped onto the bus to Phnom Penh I bumped in George whom I travelled with for a few days back in Hanoi. For my 3 days in Phnom Penh I hung out with him and his mate Stefan from home. Also stayed in the same place as Matt and the other Irish guys from Nha Trang so no shortage of friends.
Ironically, Phnom Penh was a little expensive compared to some places in Vietnam, so we didn't go mad here with the spending. Spent a couple of good nights in the hostel common area sharing beers and stories with folks I hadn't seen for a while.
We also went to visit the Killing fields memorial in Toul Sleng prison (aka S-21). This was the site of the main torture and interrogation centre for the Khmer Rouge between 1975 and 1979 and the museum was harrowing to say the least.
On our last day we decided to visit the National History Museum. The staff didn't think to tell us when we paid in a 4.45 that the museum was closing at 5pm. But thankfully there wasn't much to see (that we wouldn't see in situ at Ankor) and we raced around in 15mins.
