I woke up at 5:35 in order to make it to my transport to the Airport. Packed the rest of my stuff, and headed down to the front desk at 6:30.  The shuttle arrived shortly afterwards, and I put my bags on and rushed back into the hotel restaurant to grab a bite to eat.  After scarfing down a bowl of cereal and yogurt, I got back on the shuttle with the L.A. connection group.  Arrived at Charles de Gaulle Airport at approximately 7:45 and made it through customs.

The plane was about 35 minutes late getting out, and by the time I arrived in Zurich, I had less than 20 minutes to get from one end of the airport to the other and board my next flight.  Luckily, most of the other passengers were also late, and the planes were held up.

Swiss Air by the way, is a very nice airlines.  The only bad thing was that my particular seat was located against one of the back walls of the section.  As a result, I was not able to recline my seat back as far as the other passengers, and my neck got a little sore.  I watched several movies, including "Iron Man 2", “Backup Plan”, “Cop Out”, and “Clash of the Titans”.  They also fed us several meals and drinks.

The flight from Zurich arrived in LA a little late at 5:30.  I wandered down to baggage claims, and received my bad news.  My backpack had arrived, but my suitcase had been lost in transit.  Don't know how one would make it and the other not, but hopefully it will show up soon.  The suitcase was mostly clothes, but also contained all of my souvenirs, including shot glasses, refrigerator magnets, and watercolor art I had purchased.  After going through customs, I rechecked my backpack, and filed a claim for the missing bag.  It just makes me sick to think all of these memories could be lost.

I wandered around the terminal trying to find something to eat, but unsatisfied with what was available, I decided to sleep instead.  Woke up 10 minutes before boarding, and walked onto the plane.  While on the plane, I sat next to a University of Oregon girl who had spent the last 2 months in Spain.  Across the aisle was Miss Oregon who was from Klamath Falls.

Arrived in Portland 15 minutes late, and after I grabbed my backpack from the carousel I met my father outside on the street.  I was thoroughly exhausted, but it was so good to be home.  Europe was amazing, and I am so happy that I was able to do this trip.  But at the same time, it is so good to be home in America and Oregon to be specific.  I met some great people along the way, some of which I will continue to keep in touch with.  Some of the places I visited, are places I would like to return and explore in more detail.  Other cities and sites, I feel I have done enough or seen enough to be satisfied with.  Now I have some background and place points when I meet people from these places, or people talk about their European journeys.

I hope those who have been following my journey through this blog have been entertained and maybe inspired to do some of the same.  It was far easier than anything I thought it would be, and the memories and rewards I gained along the way were insurmountable.  So, now all I need to do is start planning my next trip.  I am thinking that I would like to travel to Scandinavia next.  Norway, Denmark, Sweden, and Finland are beckoning my name, probably because of my ancestors.  There are so many places I want to see, so it is difficult to prioritize things, but that is the way I am leaning right now.  Anyway, it is goodbye for now on this blog.  I had fun updating this site, and am very happy I documented my journey along the way, if nothing more than to help remind myself of what all I saw.
