We left Jerusalem and about an hour later we arrived at Qumran. In 1947 a Bedouin Shepard boy found the Dead Sea scrolls. He found a cave that had clay pots with preserved scrolls in them, dating back 2000 years. They are now in the Israel museum, some are on display, or the replicas are at least. The Essenes, a Jewish sect, were the ones that wrote these scrolls and lived here. Thanks to them and their rigid schedule of life and work we have reliable works of literature. The Torah and other parts of the Old Testament bible was found here.
