We have been out at Hytte for a fews days now and it has been so nice. Tuesday Felix spent the entire day trying to fix his iPhone so we only made it out here at about nine. Almost as soon as we got here we hurried down and went out for a little row in the boat. We tried fishing without any luck but enjoyed being on the lake anyway.

Yesterday was such a good day. It was warm and sunny. We spent almost the whole day out on the lake, fishing and getting sunburnt. Within the first half hour of having a line in the water we caught a really good eating size fish. I couldn’t believe how quickly we had caught a fish. Well, we, Felix caught it technically, he was holding the rod, but I was rowing us. We rowed around for another two or more hours after that and had no more luck, so we stopped for a rest and a swim.

We pulled up to some big rocks where the water was deep and there was no mud or reeds. I can’t believe this place. In the Sun and warmth we have been rowing around on an absolutely beautiful lake only seeing a few other people from a distance, we have caught a fish for lunch, and we have lain sleepily on the hot rocks in the Sun after a swim. I’m not used to being so happy and content. I don’t have the words to describe how much I really enjoyed yesterday. If I had to complain I’d have no problem writing.

Very sadly the fish died in the bucket before we could kill it. We felt so terrible for letting it die like that. Felix taught me how to clean and scale a fish, I didn’t find it so pleasant at first but when I got used to it, it was fine. A good experience. We cooked the fish and ate it for dinner with chips and a salad.

Today we are going to go for a walk in the forest, it’s a bit cold and grey to go swimming today - but I might still go...the water won't be any colder and it makes me feel so good. Sadly tonight we are going to go back into Oslo, Felix has a school friend arriving tonight and he wants to see her before she heads off again in a few days. But hopefully we can come back again in a few days.

It was THIS BIG!!!!!!!! Not huge, but for a fresh water fish it was fine! the way we cooked it wasn't perfect, I think there must be a special way to cook this fish...

I'm bursting of joy - knowing that you are so happy at Hytta! It is so so special for me that you are there to experience a place that is and has been so important for me all through my life.

I find it incredibly exciting that you two are in Oslo!

A lovely outing from Hytta is to a little village by the would have passed it when on the big ferry on your way to Oslo harbour. It is about half an hour drive from Hytta to the village called Drøbak. (Solveig and Finn might have already told you about it as they love to go there too). It is nice to go swimming in the sea there too. And to get an ice-cream or strawberries and if you are lucky - freshly boiled little shrimps from a fishing boat.

Loving your blogs. We don't know how Felix has the patience to put up with Nina's antics. I think I would drive her into the nearest fjord! Enjoy the rest of your trip!

Oh, that is the life!! It warms my heart to hear about you having such chuffy times, so much that you're almost at a loss of words to describe how good it is! Fantastic series of photos of the tadpoles - they are very funny looking, full of character. And just generally so lovely to see all the sunny, happy photos of you on the boat, on the island, at hytte, just relaxing.
