Today we built an igloo! After the excitement of building the massive snow-bug yesterday and the snow still being in excellent building condition, we went out the back to try to build an even bigger one. As we were rolling up the biggest snowballs we could physically move Felix suggested we build an igloo. Was I supportive of the idea at first? I can't remember actually.

Well, we started by rolling about five of the biggest snowballs we could into a circle, then we rolled smaller ones and put them on top and then smaller again, meanwhile filling all the gaps in. It was such good fun, we bitched and bickered quite a bit too. Felix really wanted to sleep in it but I was too afraid it would collapse on us. I would like to know what the locals thought. It must be something like what the hell is going on over there? Or, who is that out of their mind playing in the snow?

For lunch Daniel’s Oma made us dumplings with a plum inside which we ate with butter, sugar and cinnamon. At dinner last night we were talking about dumplings and Felix said how Michi makes these ones with plums in sometimes and Oma said " I can make them, I’ll bring you some for lunch tomorrow." She brought Zwetschgen Knoedel over steaming hot. Later that afternoon she came round again with dinner and some clean washing.

At about four o’clock Alex came to pick us up to go sledding. We went to this place called Drehutte. Some other friends, Sarah, Jonas and Sebi came along as well, going sledding was actually Sarah's idea. The sun was starting to turn colourful as it does in the evening when we got to the bottom of the hill we had to walk up. We walked for about one hour up this beautiful mountain with the sun setting over the surrounding peaks and over the two castles of Ludwig II and the town. We got to the top of the hill, to the little hut just as it was getting properly dark. It was a perfect fairytale log cabin; the outside had about fifteen goat heads on the wall. We went inside and it felt burning hot on our faces after walking up the hill in the cold. We ordered drinks and some dinner, Felix and I ordered something called…………….which means 'A bit of everything for two’ and when it came to our table it was most impressive. First the waitress brought out two flowerpots, then a basket of bread and next came a board about one metre long covered from end to end with cheese, meat and some vegetables, all beautifully laid out. It tasted very good too.

Of course by the time we finished dinner it was completely dark outside. I thought we were going to be the only ones coming up so late but as we left there were still people coming up and plenty of other people leaving in the dark as well. We were the only crazy ones without any lights though. The sled ride down was unbelievably fun. I can’t say enough to give it justice as to how good it was. It was totally worth the long walk up and all the sweat. It was such a long ride down; you really just kept going and going and going. And so fast too, I didn’t go all that fast because I was so afraid of flying off the edge and falling and falling all the way down the hill. It was a very long ride down but it was still all over too soon. It was such good fun; more then a million times better then snowboarding. I’ve been hearing rumours of one where there is also a lift up, and plans to go there…
