Having slept the majority of the way to Mui Ne which took about 6 hours we finally arrived and checked in to the first guesthouse we stumbled across. After a few hours sleep and a can of pepsi to wake ourselves up we went out to see the sun was shining!!!! We walked straight down to the beach and hoped the weather would hold out for a few days at least so we could enjoy some of Vietnam's coast. This was the case thankfully and the next morning we got up and moved further into the centre of the main town in Mui Ne. Here we stayed at a hostel which was right on the beach and, although it was basic, it had everything we needed and the location was great.

The few days we had in Mui Ne were really enjoyable and I think it's fair to say we made the most of the fresh fruit and yoghurt at breakfast, the sun and sea in the morning and the afternoon and the delicious seafood for both lunch and dinner. we did a half day trip on our second day in Mui Ne which was with interesting as it was only us and one other couple, a Swiss man and his Thai lady friend who he was obviously sharing his holiday with. we visited the fairy stream (which had no fairies at all but lots of quick sand which both of us had immense fun going up to our knees in); we also visited a red canyon, a fishing village and both white and yellow sand dunes where children try to get a huge amount of money off you to hire a piece of plastic to go down the dunes on. This was absolutely hilarious even though it did end up with us both being covered in sand and having it in our mouth, nose and eyes which surprisingly was less pleasant.

The rest of our time as I mentioned was pretty much dedicated to the beach as the weather held up the entire time we were there, well apart from one night where the flooding we had seen in Hoi An and the rain we had experienced in Nha Trang came back to haunt us. Having gone out for dinner the rain had started and got progressively worse until when we finally gave up hope it would ease off and walked back the road which was so flooded motorbikes were having to be pushed and cars were touch and go as to whether they would make it or not (the weather was back to bright sun the following morning!).

Not much else to report on about our time in Mui Ne except that one night we decided to splash out about and headed to a rather nice looking restaurant. We ordered a fresh lobster to share and some rather extravagant cocktails to accompany our meal which was awesome. the whole meal cost us all of about $12 each including drinks but out in Vietnam this is seen as considerably pricey so the waitress through in some mussels for us as a starter as a gesture of good will.

On reflection I think its fair to say that by this point in our travels we deserved to have a few days by a beach and we definitely made the most of it because we knew we had to leave all too soon to continue our travels heading down to the city of Ho Chi Minh (AKA Saigon).
