Qinghai Lake's a fucking rip off -- tried to charge us 100yuan to get in.
So we walked around, found our driver again, and then found a place where it was free.
Maybe it's the overcast weather or something, but there really isn't much to see at that lake.
Really doesn't justify the price.
It was a bit disappointing but well, nevermind, the ride was scenic.
Had a pricey but tasty lunch, so all's good (86 yuan for 5 ppl, it's actually ok).
We hit 3,400m today as we drove thru the mountains
At one point, on Ri Yue Shan (Sun Moon Mountain), the entire place was covered in thick mist, the wind was howling and there was a light drizzle.
The prayer flags flapped wildly in the wind, seemingly screaming out the prayers to heaven.
We stopped and took pictures, while GungPo (our driver) was very amused by Rob and Shauna dressed in berms. He himself had thermals on!
Thereafter, we drove down to this little town - Chabcha.
Kinda surprised Chabcha isn't as tiny as we feared, and I even have internet.
But still, based on the changing landscape, it's evident that the towns are likely to get smaller and smaller until we reach Jyekundo about 4 days later.
At Chabcha, again we were the talk of town, people just staring in amazement at foreigners.
We also hiked up a little hill to a chorten, prayer flags and a mount of small mani stones (prayer stones)
Needless to say, my ankle's worst now.
But what the heck, at this juncture, I am not gonna be the weakest link.
Went to the street market and got peanuts, plums and some bread.
Snacks for watching movies tonite :)
Rob's got his snazzy Vaio and Nimrod has the COMPLETE set of The Simpsons', Band of Brothers and Lord of the Rings.
We watched Lucky Number Slevin at the hostel last night and it was fun, so i'm looking forward to more of that tonight.
It's amazing huh, flashpackers with all their electronic gadgetry.
Cool to travel with them.
I'm the chocolate bar / first aid kit girl, and Shauna's got a huge jar of peanut butter. hehe
We're staying at the Water Hotel (that's what it's called) Ë®Àû±ö¹Ý
40yuan for a double room that Shauna and I are sharing.
The boys are in a triple with 20yuan per bed.
Cheap huh?
Drawbacks is that the toilet stinks and there's no running water past 11pm.
So... don't shit at night otherwise you can't flush :P
Having a headache now, the effects of altitude sickness.
I'm drinking lots of water and I believe it'll be ok by the time i sleep it off.
Ref the last post, nothing's really going wrong with the travelmates.
Just saying.... it's different from travelling with your best friend.
(I miss you, Jan... and our time in Cambodia).
I must remember that all 4 of us are solo travellers who just hooked up to save money.
So yeah, personality-wise, everyone's pretty strong.
And nobody needs anybody else.
Feeling rather woozy at the mo', so i'm not gonna write too much.
Cheers,
Feli "Headache Wong" in Chabcha

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will
When the road you are trudging seems all uphill
When funds are low and the debts are high
And you want to smile but you have to sigh
When care is pressing you down a bit
Rest if you must but dont quit
For life is queer with its twists and turns
As everyone of us sometimes learns
And many failures turns about
When he might have won if he stuck it out
Sucess is just failure turned inside out
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt
And you never can tell how close you are
It may be near when it seems so far
So stick to the fight when you are hardest hit
Its when things seem worst that you must not quit !

MTMM syndrome
Hello ,
Think i have the MTMM syndrome . Find myself reading your blog over again , pieces of you . Hope everything is getting better and pls watch the ankle . Or just get a temporary brace by binding cloth around it to reduce mobility around the area.
Thought i would make it a habit to send you a calvin and hobbes comic to your email everyday with a smart alecky comment . Enjoy . And MTMM . M !
