*Tashi Deleg is "Hello" in Tibetan.
Started out late, 10am today.
Our Tibetan driver GungPo, is a really sane & good driver, and basically... a real nice chap.
First up, we headed out to Takster today, birth place of the Dalai Lama.
We saw the room he was born in, his living room, bedroom etc.
Interesting because the caretakers are His Holiness' grand niece & grand nephew!!
It feels... surreal.
There, an old Chinese man from Canton (GuangZhou) also enthusiastically tugged Rob by the sleeve, explaining every detail painstakingly
Clearly, he's a big fan of the Dalai Lama.
But poor Rob just doesn't understand, and I have to keep translating. haha. we had quite a laugh.
The route to Takster was highly interesting, as we passed thru countryside and really small & poor towns.
I feel more privileged than ever on this trip...
After Takster, we went to Kumbum, also known as "f(tm)XZ>.
The Nun i met on the train is supposed to be there right now, but i kinda misplaced her cellphone no. and so didn't call her. oops.
We're back at the hostel for a break before we head out.
I had wanted to go to the Xining Provincial Museum, but i guess by the time i get there, it's gonna be closed soon. sigh!
Things are off to a slow start, and I hope all goes well in the next 12 days
We hit about 2,800m today at Takster and I feel fine & dandy (save for the swollen eye and painful ankle).
Need to get back in tiptop condition ASAP.
Ritey, nap time for me.
Everyone have fun in sunny Singapore, and thanks for all the fantastic comments & well wishes.
I definitely will keep the photos coming as much as I can.
Love y'all!

all this talk of mozzies is starting to attract mozzies into my condo. i'd just come home n before i could put down my stuff, a mozzie bit me on the arm. i slapped n killed it. it left a bit of blood on me. obviously, it had been too well fed to fly away when i slapped. *roll eyes*
have fun with your washing machines too!
