Yaay!
Survived the 26hour train ride, which really isn't half as bad as I feared.
Chinese people, when not in an angry mob / queueing at the airport / fighting for stuff, are pretty nice.
Shared the 6-person cabin with a Chinese nun (heading to Kumbum monastery, just like me), a really pretty & sweet 24-y/o girl heading to Qian Shui, 2 young Chinese entrepreneurs and 1 particular guy who just kept to himself.
Everyone was REALLY nice to me and intrigued that i can speak Mandarin, read/write in English. And they kept plying me with food, so it was no problem that I didn't bring much along in the first place.
Stayed at the Post Hotel, a Soviet era-esque type of place
70yuan for a double, which Shauna and I shared.
Rob came by to look for us, and we headed out for hotpot.
Damn spicy, but damn shiok -- and super cheap! We ordered to our hearts' content, but the bill came up to only 119yuan (including beer & soft drinks).
I even won some lucky draw and got 5yuan off the bill.
Currently, based on Rob's recommendation, we're at the Xining Xi Liang Inn, which has a real friendly owner, in the town centre, and free internet :)))
Well, just that we're just gonna be here for a real short while.
Just today and tomorrow.
Shauna's really easy to get along with, Rob's wacky & fun, and Nimrod... he's really quiet.
Hopefully he'll open up soon.
We're gonna head out for dumplings now, lunch time.
Meeting Losang, our travel planner, in the evening.
yup. that's all for now

Hey there!
Hey Fesilia,
Glad you survived the 26h train ride. Knowing me, I'll most likely go mad. I almost couldn't survived the 2h of waiting time at Langkawi, what's 26h right?
Anyways, good to know you're enjoying your trip. And your travel mates sound like fun people. Take care and keep us posted on your activities!
P.S: we went Geylang last night. Quite a colourful experience, we should go there when you return. LOL.
Re: Hey there!

I haven't hugged a yak yet!! haiiii
Yes, we shall go to Geylang for S'pore food soon.
I'm sure i'll be sick of barley flour and yak meat soon :P
Take care in Winter Shandwick!
