We had lunch at a dumpling place, where I ordered baos, xiao long baos (XLBs), jiaozis and wontons for everyone.
Basically i'm the only non-Angmoh in the group, so i read/translate the menu or just order whatever for them. LOL
I've also been dubbed 'Chinese Tour Guide' and CFE - Chicken Feet Eater - by Rob.

The amount of stares that Rob gets is amazing -- cos he has red hair.
Shauna and Nimrod get stared at too becos of their brown hair and blue eyes i guess.

Today when we were in the market, Rob saw people taking pictures of him with their cellphones, so he whipped out his camera and started snapping back too

01 Xining Xi Liang Inn

Hi-la-rious!

Rob's really cool, the way he whips out his camera and snaps away.
see, i'm right that photogs are hot. hehe
But he is really quite typically American - at least to me.
I shall not elaborate :P

Xining Xi Liang Inn's pretty cool - cos we're basically the only 4 people here!
I'm only supposed to use the computer like, 30mins at one shot, but i've been sitting here for the longest time since there's noone else here anyway.

Right now, Shauna's gone to bed (too much Vodka, methinks), Nimrod's using Rob's uber cool Sony Vaio (he's so "The OC") and Rob's watching that Hilary Swank show... the female boxer one, on some bootleg DVD. Million Dollar Baby?

And i'm blogging :)

EDIT: I have to add that there's this huge Lhasa Apso (dog) in this place, and it's huge and barky and VERY dirty and smelly.
It drooled all over me today, and it's disgusting.

It makes the dog at Rosie's in Cambodia look like..

02 Room for 4

. it came out of a Pedigree ad.
Farking hell.... freaks me out.

We also bought an anti-dog device thingy today at the Tibetan market.
It's basically a piece of metal at the end of a piece of string, and you're supposed to swing it at dogs that attempt to attack you.
Rob's carrying now, and we agree that he shall not carry it when he is drinking the Vodka.
(He turns 28 on May 28, so we went Vodka hunting today to prepare for a big party).

Earlier today, we met up with Losang, the God of the Tibetan forum on LonelyPlanet, Guru Extraordinaire.
Seriously, meeting him was like... meeting a celebrity. LOL

After that, we went hunting for winter wear - cos he was telling us about the howling snowstorms he expirienced in the middle of July (height of summer) at the places we're going to.

03 Quack Man

Went to a Chinese street market, but all they had were regular street clothes and stuff.
So i managed to get everyone to go to the Tibetan market with me.

Nimrod and I picked up padded jackets for 55 yuan (S$11!!), while Shauna and Rob feel that they're gonna be ok.
So yeah...well, to each his own.

There were also funny looking fur hats - very Russian soldier.
(I should really be taking more pictures!)

Dinner was at a small hole-in-the-wall Muslim place.
FANTASTIC kebabs, OMG!!!!
It's like... how I can live on satay in Singapore.

Walked back the rest of the way to the Inn, and my right ankle hurts, for some bizarre reason :(
i hope by rotating and massaging it, i'll be ok tomorrow.
Would REALLY suck to be limping to the Dalai Lama's house!!!!
(Heading to Kumbum and Takster tmrrw).

Alrite, it's f-f-freezing here (like 16degs, but freezing for Singapore standards) and i'm wearing my 80baht elephant tshirt from Bangkok with my yellow surf shorts
