We were due to fly out on a 1hour flight to La Paz, where we were supposed to catch an onward bus ride to Copacabana, the shores of Lake Titicaca.
But a torrential downpour has been raging since 11pm last night, and flights are cancelled for the next couple of days, until the grass runway dries out - AND all the passengers from preceding cancelled flights (since Monday) fly out.
Dreading the prospect of another 3 days or more in this lazy mozzie-infested town, we sought a jeep to La Paz. But fellow travelers found the US$400 12-hour price tag too steep.
So... we are bound for an 18-22hr bus ride on The World's Most Dangerous Road, based on fatalities per kilometre.
It's steep cliffs, mud roads and insane drivers. Wish me luck.
