Having survived the night with only a couple more mozzie bites (Felicia of course puts 2 mosquito coils on each side of the bed, saturates herself in 3 types of repellent and sleeps in the mosquito net), we have breakfast and proceed on a "little walk" through the forest.

It turned out to be 4.5 gruelling hours hacking our way through the dense undergrowth, where the swarms of mosquitoes relentlessly attacked. I thought I was smart to have 3 types of repellent carefully applied, and wore a long sleeved shirt despite the heat. Alas, they bite through your clothes, behind your ear, the back of your ear, and all along the hairline, and my face and my scalp!

We spent the afternoon having a siesta, having chose to skip the handicraft session that the Aussies were participating in GRRR!!!!
GRRR!!!!
.

After a sumptuous dinner, we decided to go on a nighttime boat ride to look for caimans, a sort of crocodile-like creature. It was incredible when we turned our torchlights on: there were literal CLOUDS of mosquitoes swarming everywhere around us. The girl in front of me was talking, and quickly coughed out mozzies that had flown into her mouth.

I tried VERY hard to focus on spotting caimans (we saw about 3-4 of them, as red glowing eyes in the pitch darkness), and kept my torchlight off. Surely what you don't see wouldn't scare you as much!

The night was spent listening to sounds of the forest, fending off mozzies and reapplying Mopiko with a vengeance. I love Mopiko.

Cheers,
Feli "Itchy" Wong
