After waking up to a dead fire and f-f-freeeeezing again, Rob and I decided to hitch a ride on the Panamericana (highway) and head to the neighbouring town of Latacunga, 1 hour away, so we could get out of the chilly barn.
It was a typical Ecuadorian market town, except that this one felt more shady than any other. We found ourselves tailed by a young man (presumably trying to steal something) and then by trio of men. Doesn't really help that our combo of super tall red-headed white man + strange asian woman really stands out.
That said, I also managed to convince myself to hike up the snowy slopes of the world's highest active volcano (Mt Cotopaxi in Ecuador) and subsequently bike downhill like a crazy fool. We're doing that tomorrow. Eeeeeks.
