Today was the first day without Spanish class, so we finally had 1 full day to spend in Quito. This also turns out, incidentally, to be our last full day in Quito because we leave for Otavalo, a small market town in the northern highlands tomorrow.
After much effort with the paperwork, we finally got our Bolivian visas, which cost Rob US$100 and was surprisingly free for me.
Thereafter, we revisited the Cathedral Voto Nacional to climb up its towers. The climb involved crossing a rickety old bridge with only ropes for support, and clambering up rusty steel ladders. Quite exciting, really. But in all honesty, I would have opted to climb the Sacre Coeur thrice before doing this again!
Enjoy the pictures! I'm excited about Otavalo because we finally get away from the noise & smog of the big city and just hike around in the hills. Problem is, internet could be scarce because even the hostel didn't reply to our reservation and we had to call their cellular phone (no land lines).
I'll update next when I can!
Cheers,
Felicia, last day in Quito.
