Mumbai Airport 5am Whats happened over the last 24hrs: After a teary goodbye to my family in Sligo bus station and a sleepy journey back to Dublin, I was met with, in Paulas house, DaveD and Alex, for the final send off. A quick drive to the airport at the ungodly hour of 4.30am, we checked in and pondered the adventure ahead. Would we really get goat raped in Tajikistan as Dave Masterson and the rest had said? Will we swelter like ice creams in a sauna in the humid heat of South India? After our 10 hour flights with Lufthansa (Damn they have crap inflight entertainment - I dont care if the cowboy ranch will go down if the girl cant tame that wild horse that she "rescued") over the beautiful snow covered mountains of Iran and Pakistan, and the dodgy bus journey between the international and local flight airport terminals [heres where I first felt like I was india - dirty dark bus, some india pop music blaring on the radio and crazy driving between all the stacks and stacks of random cargo placed sparingly around the airport grounds], it has all been grand - no raging heat (all air-con inside), no grabbling crowds (although it is the middle of the night). There has just been a few stares and thats it. Airports (as usual) are expensive and there is a severe lack of seating. A few mossies (mosquitos for the ill-informed) around but an application of DEET sorts them out. The next 24hours should be mad, flying to chennai and going to a wedding later on(a guy that Paula use to work with). Over and out!
