Getting up at 5am was a killer. We had an hours wait at Heathrow before we could checkin our luggage. Steve wasn't happy. Not Costa!!!!! detox started with Cafe Nero.. The face was a picture. hehe. Had extra security body and full bag searches. Shame there were no cute guards on duty. Ho hum!
Are you getting a theme here yet..
Got to the plane. right at the back still meant we were first for food drinks etc
The flight was uneventful. Thank god (?) and we made good time. It was a bit worrying when the captain said that they were waiting for ice to be removed from the wings.. eeeeck!
So to New York.. We got chatting to Eva, really nice stewardess ln the plane. Seems things are not all tickety boo BA but we will say no more here. We were therefore the last to leave the plane !! NEver has Steve been in that unfortunate position.! The queue for customs was dire. With nothing to lookat , as it were we were forced to talk to a fellow travellers.
Emma nearly shat herself in the cab ride from the airport to the hotel. Forgot to mention NY cab drivers make London cabbies seem like a training school. The Polish guy driving obviously had a cup of 'joe' waiting o him when he got back to base. Wonder if Joe know about that?
The hotel room is compact, but clean an very handy for everything New York
After checking out the cost of tickets to see Wicked ion Broadway ($110.. some how I don't think so) we went for dinner. The weirdest freaking diner I have ever been to. Stardust its called. The waiting staff are all struggling broadway types and they sing constantly throughout the meal. Dont get me wrong is stunning if not a tad disconcerting.
So thats out first evening in NYC. Pics will follow shortly.Check out the NYPD in their 'force' pods, the lyrical talents of sparkle and Steve and Emma at the Rockefella...
Bye for now.. Oh and remember when its mid day your end of the globe its still very early AM for us here!!!
