-we had plans to travel on from Delhi, go to a yoga retreat in Rishikesh and stay in Varnassi to experience the Ganges River, before heading into Nepal...however we found a good deal to Bangkok from Delhi and not wanting to stay in India any longer we had to give up Nepal, too, bummer but maybe we'll make our way back, people either love or hate India, Steve had a tough time throughout with getting sick, we got bit up (not being on any malaria pills and in the monsoon season w/o any insurance) and with the heavy mental toll of the poverty and filth, I still would go back to India, I've heard better things for the south and out of the cities but leaving from Delhi just made sense
-when we arrived in Delhi, we got kind of lost looking for our hostel, ended up getting into several tuk tuks that took us all over the city, kind of a frustrating tour, total scam, found a guy with a high price that actually got us there, ya pay for what you get and desperate times call for desperate measures
-we had to walk by a public urinal to get to the front door of our hostel, which had two different signs for the place (entirely different names), I wasn't having any of it and thought we were brought to another scam place as one guy previously took us to a fake official tourism office, the guy at the place finally proved that he had a copy of our reservation online, I felt bad bc I was a total bitch, I guess I was hoping the shit hole place was a fraud
-the next day was no better as there were nation wide protests over costs and nothing was open, there were more foreigners on the streets than Indians and that is saying something!, our Delhi tour was canceled too (I thought it was due to a band but they were saying ban, hahahaha)
-in the middle of the night or rather wee hours of the morn someone knocked on our door and tried getting in before we made a fuss, the in room phone didn't work and it was kinda disturbing not knowing if someone was trying to break in, note to self India is cheap enough to not go cheap!
-hired a private taxi for the next day: Laxi Narayan Temple, India Gate, President's Estate, Humayun's Tomb, Iskon Temple, Lotus Temple, Aksharidham Mandir (outside)
-we are so ready for ASIA!
