We always can use a catch up day after visiting a big city and that happened to be in Narragansett, Rhode Island's Fisherman's Memorial. That a long name for a campground. We camped there for a night and would have possibly stayed longer but they were booked for the rest of August. Isn't that insane?! The weather was much cooler so maybe August is RI's time to shine (without the heat)?

Jill's parents were recently vacationing in Newport and raved about the place when we met up with them in their beautiful, recently built home. They have good taste and Newport was on the way so we gave it a go. It's a gorgeous coastal city with mansions lining the waterway. Doris Duke had a home, Rough Point, which we passed by along our Ocean Drive. That woman had the life. She traveled around the world, led an active lifestyle and lived in some of the most beautiful places. Now I want to see her Hawaii home. I've never toured the place; only seen pictures or viewed it from a distance off the coast.

There's a stroll you can take called Cliff Walk where you have the ocean to one side and the backyards of the mansions to the other. So we showed Rusty the sights from afar. You can actually tour the homes but we skipped them. There's even a Regina ... University that acquired homes in the area to use as part of their campus. We had never heard of the school but it's a truly unique campus.

As we strolled downtown Newport, I was in la-la land, taking in all the sights and ran right into a construction site. They had nasty, rusty grates laying on the ground which cut my toe open. GROSS! Steve talked me into going to the ER, which was a close walk by. The wait was ridic and the cost would have been worse so we were pointed towards a clinic. Steve drove me there, we got in right away, I got bandaged up and a dose of a tetanus shot which made for a costly, clumsy mishap!
