We spent last weekend eating crabs and playing on the East Coast.  Friday was a dinner out by the Singapore Flyer, at Seafood Paradise.  We had to try the Creamy Buttery Crab.  It sounded so good but a bit disappointed with the taste.  It didn't taste like butter at all but more like sweet cream.  Not going to have that again but wouldn't mind going back to try the white pepper crab.  Everyone else was a lot more adventurous with getting the set menu...jellyfish, baby squid, shark fin soup, etc.  I had to pass on that!

On the way back home, we stopped by the Baybeats show.  They had a weekend full of musicians from all over SE Asia playing indie, rock, punk, etc, in an outdoor setting.  The best bit was that it was all free.  They still have the joss stick and burnings going on through out the city, as we noticed a eery ritual like setup coming in through the back entrance.

Saturday, we headed over to the East Coast Park to watch some of the Xtreme games.  Singapore just had it's very own regulation skate/bmx park open up and this was the first of the competitive games.  They didn't think out the necessary elemets of providing shade though.  The sun was bouncing off the concrete and metal and radiating us.  A friend did warn me to bring an umbrella but even with that and sunscreen, we managed to get burnt!  We managed to take some shots alternating as the umbrella holder and photographer!

We had lunch at the nearby hawker stands and had delicious char sui w/ noodles and dumplings.  Then headed over to the cable park to find shade and rest a bit.  The cable park goes around a lake, towing people who are waterskiing, kneeboarding and wake boarding.  There just happens to be a restaurant at the launch of it all where people watch you eat it as it looks like an impossible start to get yanked into the water.

Then we met up with some new friends, had a few drinks, walked forever along the coast to get to Liliputt.  Liliputt is an indoor miniature golf game with each hole representing a famous Singapore landmark.  They've actually made it quite challanging and impossible to get a hole in one.  One of the holes is suppose to be the MRT (subway) and once you hit your ball up a ramp, the ball take a ride on a subway, to it's next destination!  There's 18 holes though and they were getting ready to close so we had to play speed golf.  We did cheat and occasionally the staff watches you and makes you start over!  hahaha Still yet, it took us an hour to finish!  They should provide bevies inside b/c it's a long game if you are not taking it seriously.  I guess it's more for children as there was a birthday party but they make the game nearly impossible!

Sunday it rained so we were glad we hadn't postponed going to the East Coast originally planned.  Instead stayed in and took care of responsibilities (yuck!) then we met up with some friends out from Hawaii, or more technically Japan, as that's where they are currently living.  They wanted to have something from Singapore so of course we headed back out for crabs.  The meal was sooooo good!  We had pepper crabs, spinach & mushroom tofu with dry hor fun noodles.  It was refreshing to be around people that we we are in the getting to know you stages with all of our other friends.

Great weekend...
