It took a day to get from Israel to Petra in Jordan. The morning was wasted crossing from Israel to Jordan (see a few entries back to find out about that border crossing), but in Amman, Dougal and I were lucky to find a bus for Petra as soon as we got to the Wahadat bus station. It left moments after we arrived. We stopped in a sty cum rest-stop, and made it to Petra by five o'clock.

The only thing that was moderately interesting about the day was that, at the bus station, a fellow asked me for money and I told him no. I mistakenly thought he belonged to the group of beggars who were around there asking for bakseesh. He insisted that I give him money. I asked him "why???" He told me that he was the bus driver, and I needed to pay my fare.

Our accomodation left lots to be desired, and we could not for the life of us find anywhere which sold fruit. But Petra would be great, and look for that in my next entry.
