Where I stayed
Yep you got it we're on the road again…..seeing places that we’ve never seen….
I promise I won’t sing……….
After a bright and early start of 5.07am we hit the road with Bad boy Billy at the wheel, our plan was to make it to Yass (turnoff to our great Capital, Canberra) I think we forgot to stop!
We make it through Melbourne without having to negotiate peak hour & stop to fuel the car and the people at Glenrowan at around 8am we find a quaint little café called McDONALDS!!
Back on the Hume my turn to be in charge, mixed bag of rain, sleet, snow & sun (ok maybe no snow but I’m pretty sure I saw sleet) we see one of the towns coming up is Gundagai so after a quick…."on the road to Gundagai” (I know I said no singing) I remember the gorgeous photo I have as my facebook home page of the 3 kids sitting at the fountain taken about 9 years ago. I come up with the idea they could do the same pose today! YAY both of us say (not such enthusiasm form my friends in the back seat but they’ll get over it!) Arriving at said fountain I show my models the exact pose to strike and after Emma changes her black Ugg boots to more suitable thongs, we start with the re-creation……(hopefully see photo below?!) Quick lunch break and back on the road.
Cruising nicely we fly past Yass at about 1ish and figure why sit in the van in the rain when we can sit in the car in the rain and travel less km’s tomorrow, so onward we push…..we come up with the marvellous idea to stay at Gateway Big 4 in Parklea Sydney, we’ve stayed there a couple of times in the past so know it’s not far off the Freeway so easy to get going in the morning
A quick ph call to another park in Lane Cove we now have the fun of hitting more traffic as it’s 5 o’clock, throw in a wrong turn and you’ve got yourself one happy little camping family J
All I can say is it ended happier than the script would have us believe hamburgers and a “special” can calmed the oldies and nice hot showers for the girls and a full hour or so guitar for the boy….We even had a few kookaburras’ stop by. Not a bad end to just over 12 hours on the road and about 900 kms racked up on the new beast
Ahhh let the fun begin..............
