! Bridesmaid looks like she may have pneumonia setting in poor love! We then drive around Eagle Bay road stopping at a few beaches along the way by far the most gorgeous was Meelup Beach a bay with stunning white sand crystal clear water and the sun has come out!! Kids take a quick dip (there feet do anyway) and off we go to the big smoke of Dunsbourough re-stock Bills CC & Bundy fridge quick walk around town all of 5 min and we’re back in the car…again…heading for our last stop Busselton the town with the 2km pier we just make it for the last train (how lazy are we!) to take us to the end of the pier & return, the weather is now clear & it’s 5pm so starting to set over the ocean, stunning! Bill gets chatting to the train driver & discovers there are Rally cars in town during the day they head out to the bush to “rally drive” then around 6pm they come into town to strut their stuff as soon as the train returns we head to where he said they set up on the way we see the “Wedding Combi” bride & Groom taking photos at the end of the small pier …the bride looks lovely so she must have survived the weather. I leave Bill & kids to walk to the park to see if the rally cars are set up and bring the car right up to the track they are racing on!! It was awesome we were no more than 20 feet away from them screaming around the track. Perfect end to the day it’s starts to get dark (thankfully) so we decide to head back to Margaret River for dinner
. On the way we see what we think is an accident as a car has pulled half off the road with many people slowing to watch, guess what? Some fruitcake has stopped to take photos of a kangaroo sitting on the side of the road! We thought they may have hit it but no taking photos….there are idiots everywhere. We don’t normally travel at night for the very reason of animals on the move, it was when we drove though Cowaramup we realised how much the fibreglass cows looked real and if we didn’t know they were there would have panicked. Home (on wheels) safe & sound we are one very tired family had a great day with more to come tomorrow.
Mad Mackay Mob signing off.
Off to explore we have decided to stay 3 nights so today & tomorrow will be full on exploring. Heading North we stop at a cute little town called Cowaramup…… they have fibreglass cows all over town (when we drive home later & it's dark we realise how daunting it looks having what looks like a herd of cows on the loose!) anyway we of course find a chocolate/fudge shop a few other gifty shops then on our way cruising too fast…Bill we fly past "The Cheese Factory" so quick U-Turn and we are in cheese heaven, loaded up with cheese we head off with directions of some must see, first a winery (there are a zillion in Margaret River) so one down, next nuts & grains followed closely by Silkworm & silk products the highlight of the whole day is next “Margaret River Chocolate Factory” they have a big bowl of white, milk & dark chocolate buds which you are able to scoop a teaspoon to “sample” kids tally for the day Emma 16 Claire 14 & Liam 10 a pretty good effort considering they also had chocolate drinks made with real chocolate (Do you think that may have been why Liam felt a little sick when we left?) I fear we may not have got out but we finally did, heaps more to see, heading now closer to the coast stopping at Yallingup to see the beach tiny little town, the clouds are looking very ominous so we head off to Sugarloaf rock amazing a boardwalk has been built over a little estuary and the ocean crashes all around the rocks Claire & Liam of course do the monkey climb over the rocks just before the rain starts, back in the car we head to Cape Naturaliste to see the lighthouse by now the weather has really set in so we decide doing the tour wasn’t worth it as we could hardly even see the lighthouse….back in the car we go off to Bunkers Beach a scoot around the car-park finds heaps of cars…strange really raining now and we discover a wedding Combi Van what a gorgeous place for a wedding….if it wasn’t raining
