So the hitch-on/pack-up begins. This is when we regret staying here, no toolbox! Our first theft in 2 months, what an awful feeling the toolbox was under the van! We routinely lock the bikes up every night put everything in the car & lock it & the toolbox generally stays safely under the van. Not here obviously (maybe they should have put up signs for the thieves NO STEALING lol.) anyway Emma went to tell the office & a maintenance guy came over and said he had an idea where it may be, so the kids & Bill head off with him to the forest area next to the caravan park they find not only the toolbox (minus a few tools) and some other tool containers, it was then some other people started to notice they had some things taken too (from inside their annex)
. Apparently they are kids that live in the next street and they look for beer & take what they find on the way then dump it in the forest! Charming little buggers hey, the kids & Bill do one more look and find the mallet (know what we can use that for!) and we head off, knowing roughly where they live we drive down the road no sign of kids, they’re probably asleep poor darlin’s up all night stealing. We head down the road a bit to visit the "Big Pineapple" boy has this place gone downhill, they have a huge shop as you enter opening up into what was an enormous restaurant, it’s now just a big empty space with just a couple of souvenirs & right at the back a place you can buy Ice-creams. We didn’t go on the tour as it had started raining, and it was about $65 for all of us just to go around the pineapples in a tractor! We did go for a walk inside “The Pineapple” and were surprised at how rundown and the state of disrepair it was in. We then headed to the Ettamoga pub for lunch and a wander through the shops, by now its pouring with rain so we headed straight for Treasure Island on the Gold Coast! Wow we really are heading through Queensland very quickly; it must be because we are heading down-hill!! LOL
After arriving after dark at Mudjimba we started to notice some of the signs displayed around the park & in the amenities block, getting the feeling children weren't really welcome here! No riding bikes, scooters, skate boards, rollers skaters etc. Children not to wander without adult supervision adults must supervise children in amenities & the list went on! We had a morning conference and decided to not stay the extra night (looks like rain again anyway) but to head onto the Gold Coast, where we at least knew children were welcome.
