Batchelor! We headed in to Litchfield National Park today to do some waterfall viewing. On our way into the Park we spotted a Joe Blake (snake) on the road not sure if it got away so at our first stop we did a quick check under the car before getting the kids out! We headed down the walkway to a beautiful cascade of waterholes next stop was Tolmer Falls viewing platform which was just spectacular (see photos) long hot walk back to the car & then off to Wangi Falls (& café!) The falls were closed to swim due to crocs, but we were able to get some fantastic photos. There was so much water coming off the falls, we later found out this was the real reason it was closed for swimming but they say crocs because then people would sneak in & swim under the waterfall. We then headed off for lunch at the café just before 2 tour coaches pulled in. (like a herd of cattle much nicer to go at your own pace) Heading back a couple of the roads were closed due to flooding but we were able to get into tabletop swamp which is very murky looking & very full, water was still over the road on the way in. We didn't get out of the car as you drove just about right up to it anyway. Florence Falls was next, we walked to the viewing area it was a magnificent view, heaps of people were heading down & were already in the waterhole at the bottom so we decided not to go all the way down instead head on to our last stop The magnetic Termite mounds. Very strange things, unlike normal ant hills we’ve started to see, they grow length ways so as to get maximum heat during the day. Back to the van pack ready to head to Darwin tomorrow.
