Today we woke up late again. After breakfast, I was still tired and didn't want to go anywhere today. All the same, we walked down to the Blue mosque and sat at the fountain in the garden next to it. We stayed there for a while, and then visited the Topkapi Palace. It was big, beautiful with gardens. It was once home to Selim the Sot who drowned in the bath-tub after to much champagne!!! It was also home to Abraham the mad who lost his mind after being locked up in the palace for four years. And it was home to Roxalena, the beautiful and wicked girlfriend to Suleyman the Magnificent.
When we left there, we went to the Egyptian Spice Market. I was surprised to know that it was more than just food that they sold. It was all kinds of stuff. Just like the Grand Bazaar, but it had more food shops than supplies and stuff like that. My Mom bought stuff that goes into tea and some nuts. It was not long before we left. In the backyard of the market was the New Mosque, built in the 1500's. We started heading back to the Blue Mosque. Once there, we went inside. It was big, beautiful and had a pretty carpet. We had to take off our shoes and my Mom had to wear a head-scarf. It had lots of stained glass windows. We saw people praying. The outside had arches and pidgeons. We left the Blue Mosque and had dinner.
