Today we did a lot of things I had wanted to do. The first thing we did was go to the Topkapi palace. The whole thing was like a piece of gold! It was built by Mehmet II as a house in the backyard of the Aya Sophia. It was built in 1464, and also home to Selim th Sot, who drowned in a bathtub after drinking to much champagne. After that, we went to have lunch, that I was not particularly fond of. It was filled with chicken, lettuce, carrots and onions - called a doner kebab. The next thing we did was walk about hundred feet to the Egyptian Spice Market. I thought it would just be selling food goods and edible things, but instead it had all the shops that the Grand Bazaar had, and a lot others. After that my dad wanted to see the New Mosque. We didn't know much about it, other than it was built in the late 1500's. Afterwards, most everyone in the family wanted to see the Blue Mosque. It was completed in 1607. The thing that was weird was that it is known for it's exterior - I thought, it could be known for both Hayley in front of the Aya Sophia

. That's wwhat made me wonder what the Aya Sophia's interior looks like, because that is what it is known for. Then we had a snack, and decided that it was time to go home.
We settled down for a little bit in the hotel, then decided to go across the Golden Horn for dinner. We took a tram across, then walked up a bunch of steps into the Beyoglu area and ate in  The Turkish Pub. Everything there was spicy. We also watched a good soccer game on TV while we were there.

Everthing was like nothing I had ever seen before in Europe or America. I don't actually think that I will see anything like this anywhere else, that's is how amazing it was.

Great writing!
Dear Asher,
Your writing is pulling me right into your trip! Thank you! You explain quite well the history of a place and your impressions all of which combine to make me feel as if I am there.
Give my best wishes to your parents and your cute sisters.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Petre
