Not much to add to Russel's wonderful description about the day(see family) except that Istanbul is really different from the other big European cities we've visited. The sights, the sounds and smells of the city are just so different. Beginning with the "call to prayer" sounds echoing throughout the city at day break, the absence of women and children on the street and the presence of beautiful mosques on the skyline. Its a remarkable city with(bonus), great food. One draw back though, there aren't many redheads in these parts and Hayley is bombarded with people stroking her face and hair, and kissing her(yes kissing) all day long from everybody. Gracey has never been sooooo happy not to have red hair in her life. Onward to a hot bath and cup of tea.
