Okay, I have spent way too much time in Cairns and I am sick of looking and waiting for lifts. I have done the rounds of the notice boards and now I just want to leave! I decided to get a bus out to the Bruce highway and write a sign saying "Townsville". This proved to be quite an interesting experience. It wasn't long before I was given a lift by an aussie treestump remover 20km down the road to Gordansvale. I then got a lift from an aircon salesman as far as Inisfail. Surprisingly, a young pregnant Ugandan women brought me to Mission Beach. Then I got a lift to Tully from an aussie / kiwi couple and finally got a lift to Townsville from 2 aussie girls from Townsville. They even gave me a mini tour of Townsville before dropping me off at Reef Lodge backpackers where I spent the night. Here I bumped into Ian an unusual guy I last met in Darwin several months ago. Townsville is okay, it is an army town and a uni town. It reminded me of Geraldton a bit. I just went to the cinema because it was cheap ass Tuesdays...
