Today we had some ice cream in the Ice Cream factory on our way down from Cape Trib. We did a rainforest walk and got to see some Caucowaries. These look a bit like emu's but more pretty. The get pretty big too and can be quite aggresive. I heard a story on a husband and wife staying in a hotel room. The wife went to shoo away the cassowary but it went ape shit and chased her back into the room. The husband thought it was funny and went out to get rid of the bird. Next thing he knows is he is using a chair to keep this crazy bird back so that he could get back it the room. The bird shredded the chair and was stomping on the door until it eventually ran out of steam and buggered off, hehe! Apparently, it was nesting very close to the door of the room. Mossman gorge is nice and you can go swimming. We were going to go to Cooktown but again we did not get on the road early enough. Stayed the night in a rented tent in Dougies Backpackers in Port Douglas. I felt a bit ill from the fish & chips we had in Mossman. Met up with Ken from Atlanta in Dougies. I met him in Dreamtime and we had a pretty good guitar session there. Just had a few beers in the hostel, played some darts and pool etc.. Seems like a good hostel. Didn't see much of Port Douglas...
