Alright, it was a bumpy ride up to the Snowy Mtns up Barry Rd. Some amazing scenery but almost shook the car to bits The battery warning light came on but we figured that it was a fault in the sensor with all the shaking. We would soon find out later that night. Anyway, we got to Kosciasko National park and drove to Cambell Point and hiked up from there. It was an 18k roundtrip and the views from the top are breath taking. It was quite cloudy but when we got to the top they just cleared real quick. A couple of minutes later we were surrounded by cloud again. We got back to the car and it was dark and cold. Car started fine but about halfway back down we noticed the head lights were dimmer than normal and getting dimmer. Soon I could bearly see where we were going and I had to break hard to avoid hitting a kangaroo. The engine subsequently stalled and we did not have enough battery power to start the engine. We stuck on a bend on twisty mountain road in the dark. Nothing could see use. Eventually a guy in a toyota pickup came along and we flagged him down with our torches. He was local and gave us a jump start and agreed to follow behind us as it was hard to see our tail lights. We made it as far as Jindabyne before conking out again. We tried to tow it to the Snowy Mtns hostel but couldn't. Eventually we pushed it up onto the grass and the local gave us a lift to the hostel with all our stuff. However, it was Sunday at 8pm and the reception was closed. The town was quiet like a ghost town and we could not get in. Eventually a guest heard us rapping on the door and let us in. We stayed the night and payed in the morning. There were just 3 people staying there but it was a really nice place and was only $20. We got going pretty quick the next day. The mechanic had to replace a part in the altenator and it only took 30 mins. Next stop, Katoomba (Blue Mtns) via Canbeera.
