The first thing you realise about Kakado is that it is vast. Must be about half the size of Ireland. I spent just 2 nights in a campsite in Jabiru. Kakado lodge campsite I think it was called. It actually has a bar and a great swimming pool. we said we were staying one night but stayed for 2. I bought a machetti in Jabiru so now Jo thinks I am a psycho, hehe.
Kakakdo is amazing in the wet season but unfortunately, much of it is inaccessible. I took a 5 hr tour that consisted of 2 boat trips and a trip to Ubirr to see some aboriginal rock art. We seen a female salty guarding her nest by the river bank. Jo pretty much didn't leave the campsite for 2 days so she really didn't get to see much.
We head on to Katherine after this where we will meet up with Susi.
