Okay, I have been in Coral Bay for a couple of days now and it is by far the best stop on our way up the coast so far. I have been doing a lot of snorkling here and got out as far as the reef yesterday. It was amazing, like being in a different world swimming around all that coral. I am not totally comfortable in the water as I am not a good swimmer but today I was way out and it was fine. On my way back in, there was a shark directly beneath me, maybe 2 meters below. It was only a small reef shark not more than 3 feet long but was cool to see it. There are loads of sharks here and nobody I have spoken to seems to be in the least bit concerned about them.
I am a little bit worst for wear today as we hit the local bar after a few drinks in the hostel. Have you ever seen the movie Roadhouse? Well this bar had a similar vibe to the one in Roadhouse. There was a huge fight outside (or a blue as they like to call it here). Two best mates were kicking the shit out of each other whilst we sat with our box of beers watching it all kick off. Later, we took the car down the beach and were ripping up and down doing doughnuts all the while there was a guy on the roof. I couldn't shake him off no matter how hard I tried. Mental note.. do not take the car down the beach with the locals after drinking shed loads of EB!
I have meet a good bunch in the hostels on the way up here and we keep bumping into the same people all the way up. Most people are travelling by Greyhound or Easy Rider. Having a car is definitely the best way to go. I miss some of the friends that I had made in Cottesloe, Angie, Valerie and Francois mainly. I am sure I will see them again.
Anyway I have to go on a 3hr quad bike tour.
Later...
