The Okanagan region is very different to other parts of BC that we have seen. It is arid and hot. Wine production is big business here so this region reminded us of parts of New Zealand. You might say that the Okanagan is the fruit bowl of BC. There are so many orchards here. We picked ourselves a bucket of cherries for $4. It took Angie back to her fruit picking days in Australia. BC is a wonderful place to come as a backpacker with a working holiday visa. There is lots of fruit picking work, many towns have help wanted signs and then you have ski fields etc to work in.

We stayed 2 nights in a campground run by Polish couple. The owner hand a beaten up fuzzball table and we had a game or two. The water in the lakes here is quite warm and very swimmable. There are even some great beaches here. The temperatures were in the low 30s all the time we were here. We swam many times just to cool down. Our last night was spent in a small town called Hope about 150 km east of Vancouver. Hope's claim to fame is back in 1982 a film crew was in town for 3 months working on Rambo. The opening scenes where John Rambo walks into town and the local sheriff asks him to move along as they don't want any trouble.. It was shot in Hope! On our way to Hope a logging truck jack knifed spilling logs all over the highway. We got stuck for about an hour while we waited for it to be cleared up.

We are back in Vancouver now. Just left our car back this morning and we may meet up with Brent and Maeve later. We are staying out at Jericho beach near Kitsalano. It is nice to be in a different part of Vancouver.

We will write one final entry from Canada later to summarize our 32 days here. Tomorrow we will be in Seattle.
