We left Jasper on a beautiful sunny day with no clouds in the sky. It was a perfect start for our journey to Banff along the very scenic Icefield Parkway Highway right through the Rocky Mountain range. We said good bye to the nice Australian / English couple whom we met at our home stay in Jasper and to our very friendly host Jerry and off we went. It took us almost all day to drive the 150 km trip to Lake Louise. We had to take so many stops to snap a picture and after every bend in the road there seemed to be a more beautiful landscape hidden. Just spectacular wherever you look.

With all that sun we were finally able to continue our camping adventure. We stayed 2 nights in Lake Louise on a beautiful little campsite. They even had a electric fence to keep us safe from the bears. Lake Louise is a small little township nestled between the big mountains. We did a hike to the lake which was truly gorgeous and met a nice couple from Arizona. The 4 of us and our Bear-bells made enough noise so we didn't need to worry about bears along the trek. One morning after Dave had a shower he discovered a grizzly family behind the electric fence but unfortunately by the time we had our camera they where gone.

We enjoyed our stay in Lake Louise and continued our journey to Banff which is the oldest NP in Canada. It is a very spectacular site featuring mountainous terrain, glaciers, dense forest and alpine landscapes. Banff itself is a busteling town with many shops and cafes. It's a nice place to hang out and meet people. We hired bicycles and did a 50 km loop. Again, lots of photo opportunities and great picnic spots. It would be great to come back in winter and check out the snowboarding and skiing. We stayed two nights in Banff and could have stayed longer.

We are currently in beautiful Nelson and looking forward to catching up with Mike, Steph and little Ruby :-)
