KL, what can I say. I have been here on a 3 day stop over on my way back from Australia before. I decided to stay at the Equator again as Hadi is such an excellent host and it is one of the friendliest hostels I have stayed in. We stayed an extra night in KL for this reason alone. Wasn't really interested in trapesing around the city and seeing the various sights. Seen the Batu caves before and couldn't be arsed this time around. The "Teksi" drivers are kind of annoying but friendly and sometimes you would like to pull a motorcyclist off his bike when they ride on the footpath and expect you to get out of their way. KL is hot and sticky and a bit chaotic sometimes especially around the PuduRaya bus station (main bus station for almost all destinations, counters by company not by destination, bewildering choices. Hated this bus station!).
Finally got to try the infamous Durian fruit and found that it is the one responsible for the slightly fishy gas leak smell that sometimes wafts the nostrils. I thought that it tastes vile also, like eating rotting garbage with a slightly sweet taste followed by a strange cheese and oniony after taste that lingers on the back of the tongue.
The main street in Chinatown is a bit mad too. Unfortunately, it is impossible to casually step into a stall and browse with out being accosted by the vendors.
KL is okay but we were glad to be on a bus out of there.
