Friday, November 8, 2013

We had a long 9 hour journey to get here because of traffic on the way – although it was a luxury half empty coach though so we could spread out.

San Jose was the first time we have been in a proper built up modern city in a long time! Proper big busses everywhere, traffic lights, big buildings, high street shops. It took a while to get used to! Costa Rica is a more expensive than other countries in Central America, and the city here is much more modern.

We walked around the city centre, walked through the market & tried some of the food on offer.

It was nice to be back in a city again, but we didn't spend long here as we wanted to hurry up and get to the Caribbean coast!

International McDonalds Meal: Quadruple Burger, chicken or beef…ridiculous!

Hotel Dorado - $24 a night, private room w bathroom. No kitchen so back to eating out.

                Visa:  $4 to leave Nicaragua

Meals: $2- $3 – Eating crap from bakeries & supermarkets. Tasty crap though.

Water: $2 for 2 litres. Most expensive so far!

Alcohol: $3 for a bottle of vodka
