Being at sea level the temperature has become increasingly warmer, and where in Ubud the nights were slightly chilly, nights in Lovina have left me sweating like a buffalo.
Because Lovina is fairly cloce to the central mountains, (and officially it's the wet season) there is the occasional rain storm that developes by late afternoon.
Most travellers come to Lovina for 2 reasons...To see thee dolphins at sunrise in a canoe, or do do some scuba diving.
On my second morning i was woken up at a crazy hour (5.45 i think) by the local from my hotel, and stumbled down to the volcanic beach wondering what the hell i was doing being up this early. Officially a 2 half hour canoe ride out to see the dolphins followed by some snorkelling at the nearby reef should cost no more than $3.50. The crafty owner tried to make me pay double $7, but i insisted that i would not pay any more than $3.50. Eventually he agreed, but told me not to mention the price i paid to the other travellers in the canoe who paid $10 each!! - I kept stoom.
As we motored out to sea, the sun rose over the central mountains at 7.32 am and it was a spectacular sight. Shortly after we came alongside 6 dolphins all jumping around the water. We wern't alone in the water though. By 8am there were about 40 other motorised canoes full of camera clicking tourists all trying to catch a glimpse of the dolphins!
The young boat man was a cherpy chap for such a early time in the morning.
I think he was a 'rasta' with long greasy matted hair, with rasta coulours painted on the side of the canoe. As we were chasing the dolphins he broke out a few Bob marley tunes, and Jim morrison too.
"Baby dont worry about a thing, cos every little things gonna be alright" and "Come on baby light my fire" he sang over and over again.
