After an unexpected mayonaise chicken stuffed avocado (yukk) from a nearby restaurant, we bought a pocket knife and a pina pequena (small pinapple) and sat in a nearby plaza.
Three blocks from our hostel is a daily market filled to the brim with alpaca hats, agora scarfts and handcrafted silver jewelry. I am wearing a $2.00 blue-green algora scarf. On Saturday the market is supposed to seap into the streets and throughout the town- an attraction that brings visitors worldwide
After our pina pequena, we snuck off to the rooftop hammocks of our hostel to nap away fatigue from our bus ride.
Back to the market square, the craft stalls had been taken down and replaced with a sprall of steaming and smoking food stands. We worked on a staged dinner, papas y carne (potatoes and meat) in a bag, maize tamale, hominy y queso fresco (dried, treated maize kernels and fresh cheese) finished off with a warm raspberry-anise drink thickened with corn flour. All in total: $1.80.
Off to spanish classes..
