I had a great time in Africa but two months was long enough for me to realize my heart and mind was still in Latin America so I decided to work my way south. The cheapest way for me to do this and actually get an experience out of the transfer I decided to book a flight to Madrid, Spain where I would be able to meet up with some friends I met while I was in Ethiopia. It was great getting to see them again and Sara was very helpful by giving me a place to sleep in Madrid. After a few days in Madrid we took a bus to Barcelona to meet up with some other friends we met in Ethiopia and had a great time even though the weather was record breaking cold temperatures for Spain. When we got back to Madrid I decided I wanted to head up north to Pamplona and then up to the Basque country of Spain. One of my great-grandfathers was from a town called Urepel, France in the French Basque country and my great-grandmother was from a town called Sumbilla, Spain in the Spanish Basque country which is absolutely beautiful. Bad weather made it impossible to visit Urepel but Sumbilla was accessible and i was very happy to be there. I talked to the city council in Sumbilla to see if they had any records of my great-grandmothers family and they are supposedly investigating it for me and said they will email me if they find anything. I am now in Panama and have been here for almost 2 weeks. I have been having a blast and meeting tons of new people so I apologize for not updating my blog in quite some time. I will let you know more about Panama later!
