October fest is a big deal! There are thousands of people from all over the world that come to Munich just for the October Fest. The men dress up in leather shorts and checkered button up shirts and the women put on fancy busty dresses. The festival is full of carnival rides and food vendors. There are "tents" which are really large buildings each representing a different brand of beer. During the day you can go in and out of any tent you want but at 6:30 if you have not paid a high price to reserve a table they more than likely make you leave the tent. I had to leave on Thursday night. Friday night was different though. When I was in Ireland a met a good friend named Lisa from Munich. She is studying in Dublin but came home for the October Fest and got in touch with me. I thought it was going to be impossible to find her and actually get in the tent where she told me she would be. I was standing outside the tent in the huge crowd of people waiting to get in when all of the sudden a guy came up to me from out of no where! There were at least 100 more people he could have walked up to. He asked if I was waiting in line to get in and I said yeah but good luck man this line hasn't moved at all. He then said well I actually have an extra arm band, a ticket for one free beer and two coupons for two halves of chicken. He gave 30 euros for all of it and that was all he wanted for the whole set! One beer cost 10 euro and I'm not sure about the halves of chicken but the VIP entry through the back door was worth every bit of it! I was in! Now all I had to do was find Lisa, it was tough but I found her and we had a blast! The party in the tent is over at 11 or 12 not real sure about the time but it surprised me it was over so early but still well worth being a part of! Prost to you my friends!
