Saturday night I was hanging out in the hostel kitchen checking emails in the dark. I left the lights off because it seemed peaceful. When I finished checking my email I realized they had a closing time for the kitchen! The guy that locked the door didn't find it necessary to make sure the kitchen was not being used since the lights were off. It was pointless to beat on the door and have anyone hear it because it is on the second floor in a secluded hallway. The night was not getting any younger so I came up with a great problem solving plan, the window! I went to the window and nervously looked down to see it was a long fall to a small isolated area but I could also see more doors down below. When I looked up and over I could see the bottom of the fire emergency stair case. This was my only way to freedom. I jammed my iPad down the back side of my pants, climbed on top of a bar stool and worked my way out the window jumping up and over to the bottom of the stair case. I then proceed to pull myself up and on to the fire escape! When I got to the bottom I found the closest door to the front desk and start beating on it really loud and finally the guy at the front desk came and opened it! I was free but in trouble! He did not know who I was or why I was in the small confined space I was in. He asked me what I wanted and I told him he locked me in the kitchen! He says what are you doing in the kitchen? I was checking my email in the dark, I said. He then has to tell me the kitchen is upstairs, which I was perfectly aware of! How did you get out of the kitchen, he asked. Well I jumped out the window to the fire escape James Bond style!

I am back in Dublin now but I have a flight to Brussels, Belgium in the morning at 7:40 AM. I am very excited about this because I will be visiting a friend from Belgium. I met her through couch surfing while in Bolivia last year and promised her I would make it to this part of the world someday and visit her. Sharon has a small family farm in a small village near Oostende, Belgium. Ireland was awesome but it is time to move on!
