After waking up at 4:45am this morning to catch our bus, we are all back in Ne Delhi from our week-long orientation retreat near Mussoorie, Uttaranchal in NE India.
I don't have enough time now to give a detailed account of my experience, but the first word that comes to mind is "breathtaking"!
The orientation retreat was held at one of AJWS's partner organizations located in the middle of the Indian Himalayas. The mountains were gorgeous, the air fresh, and the sunsets unbelievable. We arrived at night after a quite windy journey into the mountains. I remember waking up the next morning, looking out the window next to my bed, and jumping up and running outside to observe my beautiful suroundings and hear the sounds of a conch shell calling the local villagers to prayer at the nearby ashram.
In addition to admiring the natural beauty around me, I spent the week getting to know the other fellows and being oriented to AJWS and our year-to-come in India. We stayed in dorms at the organization and at 3 full, delicious vegetarian meals a day in their kitchen. I did love to food, though I began to realize that eating the same thing everday might take some adjusting on my part!
I have more lots stories to tell...but they'll have to wait until tomorrow. We're going out to dinner soon and I have to get back to our hostal.

How wonderful!
Rachel, your description left me wanting to leave my office immediately and catch the next plane over. Can't wait to see photos.
Best,
